Crucial impact of exchange between layers on temperature programmed desorption

چکیده
Kinetic modelling shows that layer exchange between the 1 st and 2 nd adsorbate on a surface alters appearance of desorption spectra considerably. Especially, rapid causes broader peak flatter leading edge.

Loss Spectroscopy and Temperature Programmed Desorption Spectroscopy
Interactions of ammonia with well-defined NiO( 100) films prepared on Mo( 100) have been investigated using combined high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (HREELS)/temperature-programmed esorption (TPD). The results show that ammonia is bonded to the surface cations of NiO(100) via the nitrogen lone pair of the molecules, with an accompanying transfer of electrons to the surface cat...
متن کاملSimulating Temperature Programmed Desorption of Oxygen on Pt(111) Using DFT Derived Coverage Dependent Desorption Barriers
The dissociative adsorption energy of oxygen on Pt(111) is known to be coverage dependent. Simple Redhead analysis of temperature programmed desorption (TPD) experiments that assumes a coverage independent desorption barrier can lead to errors in estimated properties such as desorption barriers and adsorption energies. A simple correction is to assume a linear coverage dependence of the desorpt...
متن کاملTemperature programmed desorption study of C6H12/Zr„0001..
Temperature programmed desorption TPD has been used to investigate the behavior of cyclohexane C6H12 on Zr 0001 and the effects of 500 eV electron bombardment on its desorption characteristics. Following adsorption at 150 K, molecular desorption above 600 K suggests exceptionally strong interaction between C6H12 and Zr 0001 . These high-temperature desorption features shift to higher temperatur...
متن کاملTemperature-programmed desorption and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic study
The surface chemistry of proline is explored on Pd(111) using a combination of temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) and Xray photoelectron spectroscopy. Proline adsorbs on Pd(111) at temperatures of 250 K and below into second and subsequent layers prior to the saturation of the first layer, where approximately 70% of the adsorbed proline is present in its zwitterionic form. Molecular prolin...
متن کاملMg clusters on MgO surfaces: Characterization with metastable impact electron spectroscopy, ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy „HeI..., and temperature programmed desorption
MgO films ~2 nm thick! were grown on Mo and W substrates while metastable impact electron ~MIES! and ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy ~UPS! ~HeI! spectra were collected in situ. Apart from the valence band emission no additional spectral features have been detected with electron spectroscopies. After exposing the oxide surface to Mg ~substrate temperature between 100 and 300 K! an additio...
